Research Group on Large Scale Space Ethics

The seed of the Cosmic Footprint Foundation is the interdisciplinary research group on large scale space ethics, investigating the ethical implications of the expanding power provided by space technologies, regarding the largest scales of time and space, and hosted at www.spaceethics.org

About

The Cosmic Footprint Foundation is a French NGO (law 1901) aiming to gain recognition from ECOSOC and then observer status at COPUOS.

Created following the forum on Cosmic Footprint held at the International Space Science Institute (ISSI), in Bern, January 8-10, 2024, the Cosmic Footprint Foundation (the Foundation), aims to create an agile, independent, and intergenerational entity. This entity will support the long-term consideration of Humanity's impact beyond Earth, and will interact with the global space governance in this respect.

Goal

Voicing out at the UN for a proper management of our impacts at large scales in the cosmos, so as to enable a global discussion on the footprint we want to leave beyond us, in space.
